Wedge-wire screens (slotted screens)
Wedge-wire (slotted) screens are made as a panel of shaped profile wires joined by welding to transverse stiffening ribs. The trapezoidal profile widens the slot sharply below the working surface, so the slot does not clog and material passes through freely.
Properties: high load capacity and wear resistance across the whole screen surface and in individual sections; a smooth working surface; wire strength high enough to take pressure differentials and heavy loads; corrosion resistance and heat resistance; high separation and classification accuracy.
Slot width is the distance between the wedge-section wires. It stays stable thanks to the difference in wire thickness between the loop opening and the wedge section, or by welding the wedge wires to transverse carrier ribs at a fixed pitch.
Applications: ore beneficiation plants, petrochemical works, the food industry, filtration and washing, drying, and size classification. Arc screens serve the FVSh-950, TsfShnG and TsfShnV centrifuges; flat screens are used for drying and classification.
